This steel can also undergo nitriding after undergoing special heat treatment. HCHCR-D2 steel falls under the category of Cold Work Tool Steel and contains high amounts of carbon and chromium. One of the distinguishing features of this steel is its addition of vanadium, which enhances its wear resistance and toughness properties. With a hardness reaching up to 57-59 HRC, D2 materials offer superior performance compared to D3 due to their higher alloy properties. Applications of Tool Steel - High Carbon Steel HCHCR D2: Tool Steel - High Carbon Steel HCHCR D2 applicable for cold stamping or forming dies, cold forming rolls, Chipper knives, Punches, slitters, shear blades, tools, tyre shredders, trimming, cutting dies , stamping tools etc. It can be utilized as threading rolls and dies, icy trimming, cutting and stamping tools for sheet thicknesses up to 6 mm. Used as shearing blades for sheet thicknesses up to 12 mm.

D3 steel Tool steel with 12% ledeburitic chromium and excellent wear resistance. Essentially used as cutting tools for sheets up to 4 mm thick, trimming dies, blanking dies for paper and plastics, shear cutting edges, and rotational shear edges for sheet thicknesses up to 2 mm. D3 steel is a high carbon 2% and high chromium 12% tool steel with excellent wear resistance. Its supply condition is generally annealed for easy machining, with a suggested hardness of 57-58 HRC once dies and tools are made.
